Join us for an exciting, in-person, hands-on architecture event at this year’s Leeds Digital Festival.
Whether you’re an experienced architect, an engineer with a penchant for lines and boxes, or just want to get more involved in software architecture, this event is perfect for anyone passionate about designing innovative solutions. During this hands-on event, you’ll have the opportunity to collaborate with fellow enthusiasts, share ideas, and practice your solution designing skills without the pressure and constraints of a work environment.
In this event we’ll be doing Architecture Katas. You may have heard of a Code Kata, which developers use to hone their coding skills by coding up a solution to a predefined problem. This is the same idea, but for architecture – working in small groups, you’ll get some requirements and collaboratively sketch out a design which you think fits the bill. For example, you might be designing a URL shortening service or the next Uber. We’ll give you some pointers, but you can use whatever patterns, technologies, and components you like. No need to stick to your pre-approved technology list here!
At the end of the evening we’ll share our designs with the wider group, so you can be inspired by the other solutions, and maybe even learn a thing or two.
You don’t need to be an architect or an engineer to take part, however you do need some technical knowledge be able to join in and benefit. Working in your group you can contribute as much or as little as you like, although getting involved is encouraged. You don’t have to present anything if you don’t want to – hopefully at least one person from each group will be happy to share their designs and ideas, but it’s not mandatory.
