Data is at the core of its separation from Walmart and a key enabler of its retail future business and its emerging capacity to drive insight from its data assets. Data Management and Governance is a new emerging function and team within this big transformational journey.

We have ahead of us a path of discovery and evolution with the support of our newly recognised Data Owners and Data Stewards, clearly establishing the powerful role of the business to own and manage its valuable data assets. James Morgan is an industry recognised expert, fellow of the IDM, DMA Data Council and Women in Data Committee Member. Named in the Data IQ 100 seven times, awards judge and a regular speaker and panelist at leading industry events. Currently Senior Director of Data at Asda, a role that includes leading the creation of an entirely new data capability for the organisation, James also has a whole lot of experience as a CDO consultant and leading strategy, data, insights and analytics – to name a few – in a breadth of sectors and organisations. So he brings a huge amount of experience and knowledge to Asda!
Heidi Moorhouse is an IT professional with a keen passion for Data. Her most recent move to Asda follows an extensive career in industry and consultancy roles, including leading BI teams, various transformation programmes, building and maintaining data solutions, along with providing data consultancy services to large organisations. Heidi joined ASDA to lead its emerging Data Management and Governance function, seeking to establish a team that will bring data closer to its business functions and collaboration across the tech delivery teams; championing the business roles to embrace new concepts and make the governance of Asda data assets, an enduring and sustainable practice.
