Sunday Times Top 100 employer Sky Betting & Gaming is a fast growing Yorkshire tech unicorn with a strong track record of innovation, headquartered in Leeds and employing over 1000 people.
As a leading UK mobile bookmaker, we operate the largest online sportsbook and own a range of products under the Sky global entertainment brand which enjoys an international reach that is driving our continued growth into Europe.
Our association with Sky gives us a unique presence in the market with unrivalled access to Sky talent, which allows us develop rich and exciting content for our customers.
Behind the scenes, we’re also an agile-first technology business that recently expanded into a second address at city-centre Wellington Place with a £3.5m investment in purpose-built premises, designed to meet the specific needs of our tribes of engineers, coders, analysts, developers and testers.
Our rapid growth saw us recruit at a lightening quick pace, with 800 people joining us in one eight-month period alone since we became an independent company just over a year ago, a development that gives our business a unique blend of big brand and scale with a startup feel.
In 2014/15 we contributed 18% of Leeds’s digital GVA and £126m to the Yorkshire economy and have outperformed the market every year for the last five years with over 80% of our revenues generated from mobile apps.
Our independence has allowed us to invest over £11 million in people and facilities, opening new technology hubs in central Sheffield and central Leeds and offices in Rome and Munich.
Our hugely popular graduate programme is now open for a second year in 2017, taking our investment in early career initiatives for 2016/17 to £3m and the total number of early career opportunities created to 70.
We’re very proud to be supporting Leeds Digital Festival again this year as a headline sponsor alongside some very impressive businesses, all of which provide clear evidence of our city’s formidable presence in the UK’s digital ecosystem.
Our goal for the week is to share skills and knowledge with access to some of our most senior and influential thinkers, to promote the diversity in tech agenda, to explore future innovations and to open the business to as many people as possible who want to learn more about digital life in Leeds and the opportunities on offer here.
We’re keen to show more people what it’s like to work in one of the most progressive and agile environments in the city and to share with as many people as possible the tremendous range of employment opportunities on offer.
CEO Richard Flint “We have seen rapid growth in the business over the last few years, driven by our focus on cutting edge technologies and digital trends such as mobile and agile software development.”
