Would you like a venue with that? Discover the perfect venue for your event!

12th February 2018

Planning is well underway for Leeds Digital Festival 2018, with eager directors and keen marketers connecting with us everyday looking to organise their events.

The number one question on everyone’s lips: ‘Can you help sort out a venue?’

If you don’t have an office like Google complete with astroturfed auditorium and Nespresso on tap, don’t sweat it. This year, a number of Leeds’ hottest spots are generously hiring their venues out to us for the duration of Leeds Digital Festival – 16th to 27th April in case you don’t have it pencilled in yet..

So if you can’t or prefer not to host at your office this Festival, take a peek at the creative spaces that the city has to offer below.

1. Duke Studios, LS10 1HD

If you haven’t braved heading south of the river (but seriously, guys, it’s really not that far – it’s less than 10 minutes walk from the train station) then you might be missing one of the coolest creative spaces in Leeds.

Tucked away in plain sight at Number 3 Sheaf Street, Duke Studios is a coworking space aimed specifically at those working in the creative, tech and digital and currently houses 75 small businesses and also provides desk rental and studio space.

Duke is kindly offering hosts at Leeds Digital Festival 4 unique venue spaces for free – The Draper Room, The Not Bored Room, The Conservatory and the large Event Space with its attached ‘Yarden’, perfect for those post-event drinks. All the venue spaces come with free AV support and setup, and room layout can be selected on booking.

Also housing the Sheaf St Cafeteria and ‘The Grub and Grog Shop’ kitchen sporting fresh local produce, this one-hit-wonder of an event space has everything you need to host a perfect event.

Having recently received a range of tech upgrades – including permanent live streaming facilities – thanks to help from The Leeds Tech Hub fund, Duke Studios is set to become the go-to space for any exciting tech or digital event in city. The team invite you to come and check out their space in person and discover why ‘We do things differently here’ is a very suitable motto!

2. Headrow House, LS1 6PU

Headrow House Logo

Built in the early 1900s and formerly a textile mill, Headrow House is now a favourite local haunt. Located at the heart of the city in a convenient median between the universities and train station, Headrow House is sure to attract an eclectic mix of attendees. One of the trendiest spaces in Leeds, the venue has proved one of the most popular spaces for Leeds Digital Festival hosts in previous years.

Boasting 4 floors covering over 11,000 square feet with a beer hall, cocktail bar, restaurant, 2 roof terraces and event space, Headrow House provides the perfect opportunity to entice attendees with its relaxed atmosphere and stellar selection of refreshments – perfect for networking events.

The first floor event space has a capacity of up to 200, with its own bar and bespoke catering options provided by the adjoining Oxclub restaurant. AV support is available and the venue’s trusty tech team is there to make sure your event runs smoothly and ensure your needs are met. The venue is available for a small fee of £100 to cover staff wages – which, we think, is pretty fair!

Another urban hideout, this time in the city’s Northern Quarter, Belgrave Music Hall & Canteen covers 3 floors with 2 bars, 2 kitchens, a roof terrace and a 200 capacity event space. Renowned among locals as a hub of creativity graced by artists and performers, Belgrave is the trendy-younger-sister venue to Headrow House and another great space for interactive events and relaxed networking – and the lure of Dough Boys’ pizza slices will be sure to win over attendees.

Banyan Bar & Kitchen Logo

The team behind some of the city’s favourite cocktail spots, Arc Inspirations, have kindly agreed to hire out a selection of their venues around the city to hosts at Leeds Digital Festival for free – which is just the cherry on top of the community work that the group do – from sourcing their produce from local producers, to donating profits to Leeds Rhinos Foundation. In the heart of the action at No.2 City Square, Banyan took over the old Post Office Building in 2016, but don’t be fooled by its old-school exterior – the interior is a luscious combination of on-trend and traditional.

The entire First Floor Cocktail Lounge and elegant Private Dining Area – including AV support – are available for free and can be booked together as one whole venue or separately, depending on your needs. The First Floor Cocktail Lounge can house up to 65 seated and 110 for networking or buffet event, while the Private Dining Area can accommodate up to 33 people seated, 50 networking or buffet and 40 for a presentation.

Free AV support is available for this venue – please notify us of your requirements on booking.

5. Manahatta (Greek Street, LS1 6PG; Merrion Street, LS1 5PS)

Manahatta Logo

Bringing New York to Leeds, Manahatta (both the Merrion Street and Greek Street venues) have offered our hosts and their attendees the Manhattan experience for free. Run by Arc Inspirations, Manahatta offer the much the same experience of luxurious decor and sleek interior as Banyan.

Manahatta Merrion Street offers The Library (20 seated or 25 for networking/buffet), the large First Floor Cocktail Bar holding up to 200 for networking or buffet, 95 for a presentation, or 100 seated; and, of course, The Restaurant, holding 50 for networking or buffet, or 45 seated.

A capacity of 200 sound a bit imposing for you? Wanting something closer to the train station? Manahatta Greek Street, just a 4 minute walk from Leeds station, offer a similar layout with their First Floor Mezzanine, but with a slightly cosier capacity of 100 networking or buffet, or 60 seated.

Free AV support is available for both venues – please notify us of your requirements on booking.

Parking unavailable – nearest parking for Manahatta Merrion Street is Citi Park Merrion Centre, 0.2 miles away.

6. The Pit, LS1 6PQ

The Pit Logo

The Pit is a favourite among the Leeds Digital Festival Team (The Bunker is available to hire for free for film nights!). Run by Arc Inspirations, The Pit is the more indie option for hosts – think The Godfather meets Bond: leather, heavy oak furniture, low ceilings and exposed brickwork – with a feature wine-rack, of course.

The White Room, The Den and The Bunker range from capacities of 16 seated to 75 standing. As the digital gurus you are, you’ll probably prefer The Den with its presentation layout for up to 50 people.

Got your eye on a different room? Arc Inspirations are happy to provide AV support where it’s needed for free – just contact charlotte@leedsdigitalfestival.org and let her know when and where you need them.

Parking unavailable – nearest parking is Citi Park Merrion Centre, 0.2 miles away.
