Expectations of organisations to make a positive contribution in society are increasing year-on-year.

Whether it reflects changing social dynamics or an internal desire to do good, an outlook which takes in more than the health of the balance sheet is becoming the norm.

But what can the digital and tech community do to bring organisations’ ‘why’ to life through their work? How does the sector view the value of social impact compared to other professions? And what influence does social purpose have on customers’ digital experiences?

This thought-provoking session will offer answers to all of these questions and more as Leeds Building Society, a business which prides itself on being purpose-driven and which is undergoing rapid digital transformation, hosts a panel of guest speakers to explore the issues. There will be an opportunity to networking, meet Society senior leadership and enjoy food, drinks and goody bags.

 

Meet the panel:

Richard Fearon – CEO, Leeds Building Society

Richard started his career at Oliver Wyman & Company and spent 10 years at Lloyds Banking Group in senior mortgage and savings roles. Richard has an excellent understanding of product development to meet customer needs, as well as strong strategic and commercial skills. As Chief Executive Officer, Richard has responsibility for developing and proposing the Society’s strategy, objectives and plans and maintaining our business model and culture.

Richard is also the Chair of the UK Finance Mortgages Product and Service Board.

 

Catherine Wilks – Senior Director, Slalom

Catherine is a Senior Director at Slalom, NED and Founder of Lean In Manchester. She enjoys building connections, growing teams and helping clients to use data better. She has fifteen years’ experience as a data practitioner and has delivered numerous data strategies for clients across a range of sectors. Catherine has a PhD in theoretical particle physics and was a top 50 Data Leader and Influencer in the UK and the winner of the UK Data Leaders Award. Catherine is married with two kids, loves working out (anything active but mostly running and strength training), eating and cooking.

Darren Ashby – Chief Impact Officer & Partner, businessfourzero

“I love working with groups of talented leaders, particularly a group who don’t always see eye to eye, helping them form as a team, set a compelling direction, and then unleash all of their people to deliver it. Teams on a mission, can have incredible impact in the world.”

Darren is part of the founding team at businessfourzero and describes himself as a culture and change geek. Over the last 6 years he has led transformational programmes across a diverse range of clients including Lloyds Bank, LVMH, John Lewis, Reckitt and Electronic Arts. Previously he has held commercial strategy, innovation and transformation roles, both as a consultant and in large corporates.

 

Carrie Wray – Head of Technology – Colleague, Corporate and Service Delivery, Leeds Building Society

Carrie is one of 3 Heads of Technology at Leeds Building Society. With over 25 years’ experience in Service Delivery and Crisis Management, Carrie is passionate about the experience delivered by technology rather than the technology itself. Driven by a strong sense of purpose, she is responsible for ensuring the service delivered by all our technology platforms. A working mum, Carrie uses her experiences to drive inclusion and diversity wherever she can.

 

Christopher Holmes – Chief of Client Partnerships, AND Digital

Christopher is Chief for Client Partnerships at AND Digital, responsible (as part of the SLT) for shaping AND’s growth, whilst helping organisations to deliver digital products AND accelerate their digital capabilities. Christopher was a finalist in The Drum’s BD100 list in 2020 (the UK’s top 100 business developers) with over 15 years’ experience in design and technology, and a strong interest in UX. Christopher has been consulting across a wide range of complex digital transformation programmes (such as Lookers Plc, which was awarded Digital Transformation of the Year, Click&Drive)
