An increasing flow of patients into the Emergency Department at the trust has been stretching resources and creating challenges in how quickly and effectively patients are being transferred or sent home.
The trust wanted to take a critical look at the urgent referrals processes involving their hospitals and primary care and how they could be improved. During a ten week project, they engaged digital and human factored design specialists dxw and CCD to adopt a service design approach to review interactions and pain points as well as examples of good practice.
We’ll share what we did, our findings and recommendations, and talk about how to move from design to implementation.
