Leeds Technology Enabled Communities Principles Launch

Join us as we officially launch the Leeds Technology Enabled Care (TEC) Guiding Principles—a new framework designed to ensure that digital care in our region is safe, compassionate, and built around real human lives.

Whether you are a health and social care practitioner, digital innovator, tech developer, commissioner or a local person passionate about the future of care, this session will offer insights into how Leeds is co-creating and shaping ethical, people-first technology.

How we Developed the Principles

In Leeds, the IMPACT Implementation Centre and Involve Me Digital Health Ltd have worked together with people receiving care and support and those who work across the sector to develop some principles to underpin how technology is used in care in Leeds.

Through co-production, local people explored various issues related to the use of technology in care, including concerns about the replacement of people and human interaction with devices, and implications for privacy and trust. 

People felt that human rights and responsible, ethical practices are needed to underpin approaches to technology use in care, and that “We need a consistent framework to compare products, like Go Compare.”

 The 5 Core Principles

During this interactive session, we will break down the foundation of the Leeds TEC Guiding Principles:

1. Fundamentally simple
2. Personalised and condition specific
3. Clear purpose: users on both ends
4. Supplement, not replace human contact
5. Opt in or out choice
