Are you a freelancer or small agency working in the creative industry and get most of your work through referrals or direct enquiries?

If so, then you are obviously good at what you do. But is that really enough to get you to where you want to be in today’s noisy marketplace? What happens when you don’t get enough referrals? How do you make sure you aren’t getting the same type of work over and over again?

Over the past 12 years, I’ve tried every sales and marketing strategy out there and I’ve found there is only one reliable way to find and attract your dream clients consistently. A way that doesn’t involve spending thousands of pounds on advertising, becoming an Instagram Influencer or building complicated sales funnels.

In this workshop I will help you to implement the exact method I’ve used to find my dream clients, get paid what I ask and build a business I love. The best thing is, these strategies will take you less than 10 minutes per day and can start producing results within a few weeks or months.

Sound Too good to be true?

If it’s that simple why isn’t everyone doing it?

Well there are a few answers to that question, but the main one is that it’s easier just to rely on referrals and direct enquiries. The business is ticking along, so why change anything right?

Be honest with yourself though, is this really the type of work you want to be doing for the next 5, 10 or 20 years? Does it really light you up, get you to jump out of bed in the morning and pay you what you deserve? More importantly, what happens in the quiet months?

Relying on referrals and direct enquiries as your only source of work is risky and here’s why;

  • You have no other way of getting high quality clients when the referrals or enquiries slow down or dry up completely
  • Referrals attract the same type of clients so it’s hard to find better ones.
  • Often referrals come with a “mates rates” discount.
  • Direct enquiries are usually making decisions based on price, quality and speed (unless you’ve got a kick-ass marketing strategy).

Most people don’t get very far when they pitch to their dream clients because they just sound like everyone else. Before we start engaging with anyone, we need to get really clear on why we are different and who we are in the best position to help. This will allow you to have a compelling answer when someone asks “what do you do”. It will create lots more warm introductions and make people want to book a meeting with you.


If you are talking to the wrong people at the wrong time, you aren’t going to get very far. Part two is about knowing how and when to engage with your dream clients to get a positive response. I will show you how to start meaningful conversations with your dream clients that don’t feel salesy or unnatural. It will allow you to


If your dream clients don’t know, like and trust you, they won’t do business with you. The final part is about demonstrating value and building trust BEFORE you ask for the business. This way, you position yourself as an expert and have creative control. It also means you can charge what you deserve rather than what the client dictates. Once you can demonstrate how you can solve a problem, clients are much more likely to see the value in what you are offering.
