Europe’s Largest Retail Start Up: The journey to data-driven retailing

Organised by Asda

At Asda we are passionate about making data a natural consideration in everything we do. Join Asda’s Senior Data Director and the members of the Data & Analytics team while they walk you through their exciting journey – transitioning away from one of the largest global retailers and stepping out on their own journey to data driven retailing!

You will hear about:

  • The complexities of a huge data migration and standing up a brand-new data platform. Ensuring access to the right data and tools in a controlled environment, for use by data analysts, engineers, architects, data scientists, and the broader business;
  • Out with the old, in with the new – by giving colleagues access to the right data at the right time at the touch of a button, we have enabled a move from gut based decision making to factual data driven decisions.
  • The importance of working closely with the business throughout the product lifecycle to maximise results. We will showcase examples of data-driven products enabled by this approach, and the benefits they derive.
  • Our journey towards an Asda wide data up-skill, starting with data professionals and reaching out to include all colleagues, ensuring we are fit for the future and truly enabling data driven retailing.
  • Some of our key challenges and how we overcame these.

You will get to meet some of our key data leaders, partners and experts, and hear about their career journey and the part they played in delivering the biggest data transformation in Europe.
