This event will showcase how University of Leeds libraries are harnessing digital technologies to preserve and share our rich cultural archives and to foster students’ creativity and skills. The library’s digital learning team will introduce you to our new makerspace, where we will be guiding students through a range of tools and techniques (3D scanning, modelling and printing, games design, media production and editing) that will enable to turn their ideas into realities.
You will also hear about our Digital Creativity and Cultures Hub, where we are employing Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Corpus Linguistics, Image Recognition, and Extended Reality to digitise our rare and unique cultural collections and make them available to a global community.
Our event will run alongside a showcase by HELIX, one of our partners in the university’s recently expanded network of spaces for creative innovation and learning, so you will have the opportunity to visit both venues on this date to gain a sense of the variety of technologies that we will offer to staff and students and the range of events and collaborations that we are planning with partners from the wider Leeds community.
There is no need to book for this event, this is an ‘open house’ event.
Please come along at any time from 11am to 3pm.
