In this presentation, the Distance Learning Unit at Leeds Beckett University shares some of the approaches and techniques we use to develop our innovative online learning material.

The session is aimed at educators who are new to online learning or looking to move existing material online. We share best practice on how to arrange teaching material online, with some practical tips and examples from freely available software tools. We discuss different approaches to online delivery, the role of the tutor in the online environment and the needs of their learners.

About Us

The Distance Learning Unit was created in 2013 to allow Leeds Beckett University to respond to an increased demand from distance learning students for high quality, best practice, online learning material. Today, we support 40 online postgraduate courses in subjects as diverse as Psychology, Education, Built Environment, Business, Law and Computer Security. These have attracted over 1000 students from 64 different countries who now engage with the University’s tutors, resources and support services entirely online.
